Fallback hooking mode that improves compatibility with some mod loaders (e.g.Profiles can now be restored to default from within the game, having to switch to the config app for that was always a bit clunky. The shader authoring tool can be used on top of official profiles now.
Turned out to be the most fun and immersive way to cruise through Los Santos you may have ever experienced. Nice detail: For the heck of it GTA V got an additional driving view that mounts the camera on a car’s hood, similar to what you may know from many racing games. BTW: In my tests vorpX’s GTA V AFR 3D was about 30% faster under high GPU load than what you might know in that regard, which helps to somewhat mitigate the method’s inherent comfort issues. You aren’t stuck with Alternate Frame 3D if you find it too uncomfortable though, vorpX’s built in 3D stays available without losing the other benefits of the more direct connection like positional tracking and decoupled walk/look. Fun fact: I got almost eaten alive when I originally announced vorpX would work that way about ten years ago, making me quickly paddle back in that regard before vorpX had even been released. Lastly there will be fast Alternate Frame Geometry 3D for both games for those who aren’t offended by the method’s time disparity between the left and the right eye.

While there won’t be point and shoot VR controller support (not ruled out for later, but no promises), as always you can use VR controllers as gamepad substitute when playing standing, free hands alone feel a lot more natural than having to hold a gamepad in front of you. The more direct connection will also provide decoupled walk/look/aim for both first and third person, on foot as well as in vehicles for both games. You’ll also get auto switching to EdgePeek in cutscenes and menu screens for improved comfort.

The connection mods implement unique VR optimized cameras for both games that get rid of nauseating head bobbing and whenever possible the equally nauseating moments where the games briefly take away control, e.g. Needless to say that these connection mods will come free as part of your normal vorpX updates. Both are still somewhat beta, but good enough for a first public release. There will be a bunch of fixes and smaller additions (see below), but most importantly two vorpX connection mods for GTA V and, more relevant these days, Red Dead Redemption 2. VorpX 21.2.1, codename “W.H.A.T.?!?” ), will be out next week. I’m an avid supporter of VORPX but this issue is driving me nuts and preventing me from even enjoying games I previously enjoyed using Vorpx. I’m willing to accept the Quest 2 can’t keep up but the Rift S shouldn’t be having any issues.Īny assistance would be greatly appreciated Ralf.

I have been using VORPX with Full VR and DirectVR for years on my Rift CV1 and never encountered these issues unless my framerate was insufficient. I cannot shake the feeling that Vorpx timewarp is being enabled somehow when not needed.
It doesn’t appear to be related to anything head tracking related but instead to how the image is being displayed/updated in my headset VIA vorpx.
I also tried disabling VORPX’s headtracking and using my other headtracking methods, black border/timewarp is still present during fast head movements in VORPX. No black border visible with fast head movements at all. I used both VR Toolbox: 360 desktop’s built in headtracking and a custom python script for headtracking. My frame rate is obviously rock solid.įor the sake of my sanity, I tested using virtual desktop and VR toolbox: 360 desktop and both have zero issues with any timewarp effect on the Rift S and present smooth headtracking and image presentation to my headset while moving head very quickly. This includes when using DirectVR scan and non DirectVR. I have an RTX 3070 and even when running left 4 dead (my benchmark Vorpx game to test any quirks due to extremely high framerate on my card), when I turn my head quickly I get the sliding black borders clearly visible (both on Quest 2 and Rift S). Fair enough, I bought a Rift S and see the exact same issue. I was unable to play VR for a few months until I replaced with Quest 2 and encountered timewarp and the response on this forum was that it was the fault of compression. Prior to the past 6-7 months I was using a Rift CV1 perfectly in VORPX (no timewarp effect unless I could clearly see my FPS not being maintained at a steady 90 FPS) but then it died in late 2020. Within the past 6-7 months I am experiencing timewarp constantly when turning my head very quickly when using VORPX in full VR mode on my Rift S (and Quest 2).
